Ann Kristin Aafedt Flatland

“I need to have good result to keep doing biathlon. It was very good for me to be on the top today. It is very good for my motivation.”
Regarding her own effort today, she added, “It is difficult to race here; it is always windy and the tracks are very hard, but I felt very strong today. . . Prone was not so good today since I missed one, but standing was very good and I am satisfied with it.”

Magdalena Neuner

“I knew I was second and I was running with Kaisa Mäkäräinen, who is very fast. At the bridge, Ricco Gross said I was five seconds ahead of Andrea, but it had been a very hard fight to do that.”

Andrea Henkel

“I actually took it quite easy and was quite relaxed on the first loop, because my legs did not feel that good. I definitely did not want to use all of my energy in the first loop so I would have something left for the final loop. I think I did a good job, because I was done; I did not want to take another step!”
Her effort resulted in a podium appearance that eluded the German women in the relay. Henkel said, “That had no effect on me today. it makes no difference what happened at any race before. I am always motivated; I was not thinking about winning, but to have a good performance today.”
